1. About DoneTax
DoneTax is a Making Tax Digital (MTD) software service operated by DoneLabs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17056937. DoneTax enables UK landlords to connect their HMRC account and bank accounts, categorise transactions, and submit quarterly income tax returns to HMRC as required under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. Registered office: DoneLabs Ltd, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. Contact: hello@donetax.co.uk
2. Eligibility
To use DoneTax you must: be at least 18 years of age, be a UK resident with a valid National Insurance Number, have UK rental property income subject to Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (DoneTax supports UK property only, not foreign property), have a valid Government Gateway account with HMRC, and have the legal authority to submit tax information on behalf of yourself.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your DoneTax account credentials. Notify us immediately at hello@donetax.co.uk if you become aware of any unauthorised use. You are responsible for ensuring all information you provide including your National Insurance Number, property details, and transaction categorisations is accurate and complete.
4. The Service
DoneTax provides: connection to your HMRC account via OAuth 2.0 for MTD submissions, connection to your UK bank account via open banking (read-only) to sync transactions, tools to categorise transactions as rental income, allowable expenses, or personal, automated quarterly MTD return preparation and submission to HMRC, Final Declaration submission at the end of the tax year, and submission history with HMRC correlation ID records.
5. Important Limitations
DoneTax is a software tool, not a tax adviser, accountant, or financial adviser. You remain legally responsible for the accuracy of your tax submissions to HMRC. DoneTax does not provide tax advice. If unsure whether a transaction is allowable, consult a qualified tax adviser. HMRC systems may be unavailable from time to time. DoneTax is not responsible for submission failures caused by HMRC system outages. DoneTax is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to keep the service running, we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
6. Subscription and Payment
DoneTax is available on Monthly (£4.99/month) or Annual (£39.99/year) plans. Payments are processed by Stripe. You may cancel at any time and cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods. If you are a consumer, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By subscribing, you request immediate access to the service and acknowledge that once you begin using DoneTax within the 14-day period, you lose the right to cancel for a full refund, except where the law provides otherwise. Founding Member pricing is locked for the lifetime of your subscription while it remains active.
7. HMRC Connection and OAuth
By connecting your HMRC account, you authorise DoneLabs Ltd to access your MTD Income Tax records via the HMRC API, submit quarterly updates and a Final Declaration to HMRC on your behalf, and store encrypted OAuth tokens to maintain this connection. You can revoke this authorisation at any time via your DoneTax profile or your HMRC online account.
8. Open Banking Connection
By connecting your bank account, you authorise TrueLayer (an FCA-authorised open banking provider) to share your transaction history with DoneTax in read-only format. DoneTax cannot and will never initiate payments or move money from your account.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use DoneTax to submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information to HMRC; attempt to gain unauthorised access to DoneTax systems; use DoneTax in any way that violates applicable UK law; reverse engineer or decompile the service; or resell access to DoneTax without our written consent.
10. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law. Subject to that: to the maximum extent permitted by English law, DoneLabs Ltd shall not be liable for any penalties or charges imposed by HMRC arising from inaccurate or late submissions, any loss of data outside our reasonable control, or any indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability in any 12-month period shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by you in that period.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, use DoneTax fraudulently, or fail to pay subscription fees. Upon termination, your access will cease and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of DoneTax after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of DoneTax shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. General
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and DoneLabs Ltd regarding DoneTax. We may assign our rights under these terms to a successor of our business; you may not assign yours without our written consent. A person who is not a party to these terms has no rights to enforce them.
